Jackman as P.T. Barnum
Hugh Jackman is going to bring the showman P.T. Barnum back to the big screen in The Greatest Showman on Earth, not to be confused with The Greatest Show on Earth with James Stewart.
The film will be a musical, and why not? After all Jackman can sing for the best of them and does come from the musical stage. It's going to come from an original script too and what's more interesting is where the new musical score will come from, and don't be thinking Tim Rice or Andrew Lloyd Webber.
No, according to the story from Variety the person currently being pursued to write the score is the British singer/songwriter Mika.
Good luck to him trying to make a song out of there's a sucker born every minute!
Now I don't know about you but that's quite a surprise considering we have such great musical talent already in the country, but perhaps they wanted a more modern, less stage musical feel to the film?
Hugh Jackman will be playing P.T. Barnum, the man who loved to hoax the public and who created his famous three ring circus. The film will follow him has he becomes a great success through his show, and it will also look at his infatuation with the singer Jenny Lind who was known as the Swedish Nightingale.
Anne Hathaway is apparently in mind for the role of Lind, probably after she teamed up with him so well on the Oscars stage, an opening number that should be remembered for a very long time in Oscars history.
Jackman is really moving away from his Wolverine character as this is the second musical he's associated with, the first being a remake of Carousel which he, again apparently, wants Anne Hathaway to co-star with.
