Rambo V to be made
Rambo V has been green-lit, with Nu Image and Millenium Films moving the production forward as Sylvester Stallone once again writes, directs and leads the film. Good man.
We've heard that Stallone was already writing the film back in September of last year that we heard from Lionsgate that the fifth was being written and directed by Stallone, so this isn't really a surprise.
What is news is the location and story for the film. We had heard from Stallone himself that he was unsure if the film was going to play out in America or not, after all at the end of the fourth film he had returned home to his family farm.
Now though, through Variety, we hear that it will take place in America, or rather it starts in America and moves across the Mexican border so that they can get some serious jungle warfare going.
The story will see Rambo being pulled in to rescue a young girl who has been abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border. She's been abducted by human and drug traffickers, so not nice people at all that we'd be willing to see hacked to death by the ultimate killing machine.
It's great news that we'll see Sylvester Stallone appear as Rambo once again, as I'm not really sure how many more action roles he has left in him, and Rambo IV was good, not great, but good, and with some concentration on the dramatic side of the character I think we could see something a lot better.
Oh I know some of you will scoff at the idea of a new Rambo being dramatic, but I keep saying it, Cop Land was a great film and Stallone delivered a great performance, and I'd love to see more of that. Remember he delivered a more dramatic performance in Rocky Balboa (Filmstalker review).
Here's to more Rambo.
