Wolverine gains writer
The sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine has gained a writer and is moving ahead, and while Hugh Jackman might be talking about how this film is going to be even sexier and feature more ladies in Wolverine's life, it seems that for once the studio have the right idea for the character.
For they've hired Christopher McQuarrie to carry out the writing task for Wolverine's story of heading to Japan and fighting Ninja's galore.
It was Hugh Jackman that was recently talking about hos this next Wolverine film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2, would be sexier and would see him with a number of ladies on the way, something we didn't really want to hear. What fans of Wolverine really wanted was news about the Ninja story line and an improvement on the plot, characters and action sequences, major areas that all needed work.
However, to be fair, it was previously Jackman that was talking about his desire to go into the realm of the eighties Chris Claremont and Frank Miller comic books to see Wolverine head to Japan and fight Ninjas galore.
According to The Hollywood Reporter they've picked up the right idea and aren't so concerned about sexier and more ladies, and rather the story and plot are paramount as they reveal that they've hired Christopher McQuarrie to write the script.
McQuarrie wrote The Usual Suspects, The Way of the Gun, Valkyrie and has The Tourist, Champions, and The Stanford Prison Experiment amongst his upcoming projects, and now he's assigned to X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2.
Good choice I'd say, let's get back to concentrate on a damn good story wit h great characters and bring the action in through those aspects. Of course just because McQuarrie is writing the script right now doesn't mean that his script isn't going to be handed to someone else once the studio read it.
I guess we have to hope that Hugh Jackman is joking when he's talking about the sexier aspect of the film and that he knows that the previous film needs improving radically.
