Update: A-Team finds it's Murdoch?

TheATeam.jpgNot only has it been confirmed that Sharlto Copley from District 9 is in final negotiations for the role of Howling Mad Murdoch in the film version of The A-Team, but there's a bit of a character expansion for Face with the news that a rather lovely lady is in similar final negotiations for the role of his ex-girlfriend.

Already in the Joe Carnahan A-Team we have Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Face and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as Mr-T, so the addition of Copley as Murdoch seems a very appropriate one.

What's most interesting about the story is not the confirmation of Sharlto Copley as talking for the role of Murdoch, but the arrival of a love interest for Face, or should I say the arrival of a long term, in the past, love interest, and not just a one episode one from the television series.

Better than that the news from Variety is that the person for the role is Jessica Biel.

This is the first sign that the plot is going to even hint at something deeper than the television show, not the Biel announcement, but the fact that there's a backstory to the character. To be honest though it's not much of anything really. Okay so Face is going to have a backstory? Well hopefully they all will have and we'll see some serious meat slapped onto their characters.

Of course one thing we can be assured of is action from Joe Carnahan, but I'd still like to know more about the plot for the film version of The A-Team is and what the intentions are concerning the television show formula. Will it change radically? You have to think so.

Update: Thanks to Entertainment Weekly through JoBlo we hear that Patrick Wilson is heading for the film, although there's no word on who is going to star.
