Paranormal Activity trailer online
True? No not really, but Paranormal Activity is one of those horror films that can convince you it is just enough to put that seed in your head all the way through, and that automatically adds a level of fear and scare through it that will heighten the big frights.
Even the trailer does that, and it proves that it works by filming what happened at a test screening of the film, cutting between footage and audience reaction skilfully to build the extra level of tension and fear.
I like it when a film does that, because if it can convince you just a little that it could possibly be real, then every time you see something that would normally look like an effects shot and you approach it differently in your mind, instead of looking at something and being amazed how real that effects shot is, you look at something trying to convince yourself that it is an effects shot and couldn't possibly be real. If you can't, or there's an element of doubt, it feeds that fear that it could be real.
That's why such "true tales of horror" work so well. Amityville, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Entity, Blair Witch, and so on.
Paranormal Activity is just like that, and it looks really good with it too.
Here's the blurb for the film:
"After a young, middle class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban 'starter' tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to."
However the blurb from TrailerAddict is much better:
"Paranormal Activity is a terrifying supernatural thriller featuring shocking footage of a demonic haunting. Katie and Micah were enjoying a happy, carefree life. Their future looked promising until bizarre events began occurring at night. Katie was no stranger to paranormal phenomena - she had been stalked by a malevolent entity since childhood, and she feared that it had followed her to their new home. They purchased a video camera to find out what was happening at night as they slept.
Over the course of three weeks in September & October of 2006, they ran nightly surveillance and captured indelible proof on home video, which has been edited into the feature film Paranormal Activity."
Here's their trailer for you to make your own mind up.
It already has received one hundred and thirty two votes on IMDB and is cruising at a nine out of ten, now that's got to be a good sign hasn't it?
