Polanski's Ghost halted
This is a film site so I won't muddy the waters with a discussion on the rights and wrongs of the Roman Polanski arrest, but there is something we should discuss and that's the film he's currently working on, Ghost.
The teaser trailer we saw was rather interesting and the pitching of Ewan McGregor against Pierce Brosnan did look rather exciting. Except it now appears that the film will be put on hold will Polanski attempts to sort out his legal difficulties.
The Ghost is a political thriller that sees the ex British Prime Minister, played by Pierce Brosnan, hire a ghost writer, played by Ewan McGregor, to write his memoirs. However during the research he uncovers something rather dark about the PM's past, and before he knows it his life is in danger and he's in the middle of a large conspiracy.
According to Variety through Empire (who aren't providing any link back to Variety and sourcing the story) the film is currently in post production going through sound mixing and music scoring, and while Roman Polanski is sorting out his legal issues the film is being held back.
Of course, if Polanski can't sort his issues out and heads off to court and perhaps jail in whatever country, the studio won't wait and they'll pull in someone to oversee the rest of the prost production in order to get the film out.
Mind you, with the time that a court case would take, I'm sure the studio could argue that they need Polanski to complete the film in order to make sure they can start making money from it, and that might get him back on the project long enough to complete the post production and see the film released.
