Stalked: Halloween 3 3D director and Children of the Corn remake writer
Two pieces of horror news for one today. First is that Halloween 3 3D may have a new director, and secondly the Children of the Corn remake has a new writer to adapt the story once again.
It might spell good news for Children of the Corn, but perhaps not so good news for Halloween 3.
We already heard that Halloween 3 is going to go 3D and that Rob Zombie isn't going to be involved, so what of the director? Well Variety through HorrorMovies are reporting that the Weinstein's are in negotiations for a writer and director for the film, and that they are looking to someone who has already made 3D horror so has a track record in this department.
Meanwhile the Weinstein's have signed up a new writer to adapt Stephen King's Children of the Corn into a new script and ultimately film, Ehren Kruger. He has some strong films in his career, some good horror truth be told, and he's working on The Talisman mini-series.
You'll remember that the story was about a boy in a Nebraskan small town who incites all the children to murder the adults. Nice. In the same article Bob Weinstein comments positively about the film:
”If you read the short story, it's got such a strong feeling to it and there's this religious overtone to it as well. Ehren wants to hit it hard. It's popular in Hollywood to say you re-envisioning a project but a lot of the time they're just carbon copying the original. We are bringing something new to the story.”
Well it's good that he acknowledges that people are always saying that, better that he's saying they actually will try and bring something new to the story, and perhaps they can, it depends on who they get to direct after that.
