Shake Hands With the Devil trailer

ShakeHandswiththeDevil.jpgI know this isn't a new release, but Shake Hands With the Devil is a story that really affected me when I read the book by Roméo Dallaire Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com), and when a book, a film, or anything really touches you like that you want to tell other people about it, especially when it has such a strong message to deliver, and that's what I'm doing with Shake Hands With the Devil.

The story is told by the UN Commander of forces in Rwanda and his attempts to tell the world about the genocide in Rwanda, before and as it happened. It also tells the story of how all the countries failed to help and stop the genocide, including America and Britain who were perhaps two of the most complicit countries in letting it continue, America in particular.

It's a powerful book, a harrowing and humbling story, and very emotional, and I've yet to see the film by Roger Spotiswoode, but I will, particularly after seeing the trailer.

Shake Hands with the Devil stars Roy Dupuis as General Dallaire and co-stars Deborah Kara Unger, and from the Yahoo Trailers high definition trailer you can see it could be a tough watch already, even with the out of place voice over.

You can see the trailer right here as well.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
- Jack Burton, Big Trouble in Little China
