The trailer for the direct to DVD Smokin' Aces (Filmstalker review) sequel, Smokin Aces 2: Assassins' Ball, has appeared online, and while it might be direct to DVD there are a few interesting faces in there, Joe Carnahan is still involved in the production, although not directing, and the trailer shows there's a healthy dose of the original in there.

Okay, the production values may not look as good as the first and the trailer is definitely not in the same league as the original, but there's plenty that harks back to it. Mainly the plot, the insane characters, and the level of gun usage!

The plot for Smokin Aces 2: Assassins' Ball goes something like this. Well actually the surprise is that there is no blurb on IMDB, and no official site associated with the film, so I'm struggling here. Actually I do know that there's an email in at home with the official plot so this evening I'll drop it in right here.

For now, here's some of the cast list. Tommy Flanagan, Vinnie Jones, Ernie Hudson and Tom Berenger make up the main draws, with Berenger playing the guy who's good with cards and is the target of all the hitmen, and Flanagan returning to the role he had in the original film.
