Stalked: Nicholas Flamel, Jekyll and Hyde, Orphange remake dead

The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel to be adapted...

Jekyll and Hyde moves forward...

The Orphanage remake dead?...

47 Ronin with ex-Alien prequel director...

There's another franchise coming that's claiming to be the new Harry Potter, The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel is the latest that is making the claim, well the film version is because the series of books from Michael Scott have already had three published in the planned six part series - The Alchemyst, The Magician and The Sorceress, The Necromancer is planned for early next year.

The books follow the adventures of fifteen year old twins Sophie and Josh Newman as the travel around the world with the immortal alchemyst called Nicholas Flamel. The producers, through Hollywood Reporter, are describing it as the "natural evolution" from Harry Potter.

The film Jekyll and Hyde starring Forest Whitaker and directed by Abel Ferrara is set to move forward now according to Variety through Jo Blo.

The Orphanage remake seems to be dead, for now anyway. According to the story from AITH through ShockTillYouDrop the director that was attached to direct the American remake, Larry Fessenden, is off the project and looking to other stories to direct. It's not clear if the project failed or they just moved onto another director. He said The Orphanage...

"...was two years of waiting. Working on the script with Guillermo was a very exciting experience, but then I got into a casting miasma and that's where the thing is; I think they're gonna do it another way, actually. So I think I'm out of it. Hopefully they'll still use my script, but I'm not sure I'm directing it anymore. That's Hollywood for ya."

Well that's good and bad news. The remake may still be on, just without his script or him taking the role of director. Now I don't mean ill to Fessenden, just to the idea of remaking the film.

The director who was lined up for the Alien prequel, before Ridley Scott decided to return to it, is in talks to direct 47 Ronin according to Variety. Carl Erik Rinsch is looking set to direct the film which tells the story, loosely based on some fact, of a group of Samurai who avenge the death of their master in eighteenth century Japan. The script is written by Chris Morgan, the man who wrote Wanted, and this is the story that's been adapted to squeeze Keanu Reeves into one of the roles of the Japanese traditional swordsman. Hey, come on now, Reeves is half-Asian...apparently.
