The Crow remake producer talks
One of the producers behind The Crow has been talking about the remake, and despite what we've been hearing last year about Stephen Norrington writing and directing the film and all the other associated stories since, it seems that the film is still not actually greenlit.
However he did sound extremely confident for the film and that they are considering casting. Oh, and they do make the distinction that it's not a remake but a relaunch of the franchise - what's the difference exactly?
"I think it's something cool, we're approaching it differently. It's really a whole relaunch of the franchise, much more of a dark superhero type…It's not a remake it's literally a relaunch of the franchise….We're just relaunching it and making it with a much more present day character, someone more relatable to everybody."
Okay, I think that's enough from the io9 story through Bloody Disgusting to tell us that this new version of The Crow is not a remake of the film and that they are planning for a franchise (isn't every film these days?) and that it's going to be dark. Well that sounds exactly what fans need and want to hear.
He goes on to talk about some of the other elements of the film and again reiterates the comparisons to the new Batman films.
"He'll have makeup, but it will be different. The best way to compare it is the first Batman and Batman Begins. In terms of their look and feel and character."
He goes on to say that the script is complete, they are just "tweaking it", and that they should be getting the green light very soon.
As much as I wouldn't want them to remake the original, I think I do feel there's a possibility of restarting or continuing the franchise, don't you agree?
