13Hrs horror trailer online
13Hrs is a new British horror film that comes from the producers of Dog Soldiers that includes some interesting talent, John Lynch, Simon MacCorkindale, Tom Felton of Harry Potter fame, Gemma Atkinson from Hollyoaks and Boogie Woogie (Filmstalker review), and a few other recognisable names from British television.
The trailer looks kind of interesting, although I have no real idea what it's trying to tell us about the film, and the ending seems to have a feel that's just totally different from the rest of the trailer. It's the blurb that gives us the most information.
”A full moon hangs in the night sky and lightning streaks across dark storm clouds. Sarah Tyler returns to her troubled family home in the isolated countryside, for a much put-off visit. As the storm rages on, Sarah, her family and friends shore up for the night, cut off from the outside world. But something comes out of the driving rain and darkness. Something that holds a dark secret so devastating that, in one night, it could wipe out the entire family.
Trapped, Sarah and her brothers and friends must use their heads as well as their physical strength to survive not only the thing that is hunting them down one by one - but their own entrapment as the besieged group turns in on itself. Can they survive the horror stalking them? Or is their enemy already amongst them and has it always been? Can they survive for 13 hours?.”
That comes through Quiet Earth, who also link to the trailer on YouTube:
What do you think? I'm intrigued but not convinced as yet.
”From the producers of...” always concerns me, because when you think of the varied roles of producers they are never the writers, directors, cinematographers, editors, etc., and these are the people who really make a film.
So “From the producers of Dog Soldiers” shouldn't mean that there's anything taken from the film to this one other than all the logistics behind the production and filming. Not to belittle that role at all, because it's a huge piece of getting the film made and can make or break it, but it's not the creative role in the process.
It's interesting that Tom Felton has broken up the Harry Potter series with this, but then it's probably a good move to diversify as some of the other actors have been doing, and then there's Gemma Atkinson starring, and she could do something positive film wise with her career, or she could be the on screen gorgeous looking one running scared all the time.
So far, with this trailer for 13Hrs, it's hard to tell.
I did a little research though and The Business of Film tells us that the film is actually a Werewolf film, so the danger is from within. They're trapped in a house with one of them turning into a werewolf every night and killing them, and then there's that final shot...a little too much information?
