British Independent Film Awards 2009 winners announced
The winners for the British Independent Film Awards 2009 have been announced and there's no real surprise to learn some of the major winners. For those fans of Moon it's perhaps a little surprising to them that Duncan Jones hasn't taken Best Director, but I don't think the actual winner is any great surprise to those who enjoy the better side of British cinema, be it recognised like this or not.
Of course these rewards reflect the best, and at the same time we continue to churn out dross such as street dancing films in 3D and St. Trinians, while great independent films are being missed.
Here are this years winners from the official BIFA site press release, and not a piece of dross among them.

I think it's great that Moon (Filmstalker review) has been so well recognised, and I really cannot argue with any of the choices there. Superb also to see that Tom Hardy has been recognised for his amazing perforamance in Bronson (Filmstalker review) as well as the Best Foreign Film being Let The Right One In (Filmstalker review) .
Excellent list, and I really can't say a wrong word about any of them. Can you?
