Ridley Scott's Robin Hood trailer online

RidleyScott.jpgA trailer has arrived for Ridley Scott's Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Mark Strong, William Hurt, Kevin Durand, Matthew Macfadyen, Danny Huston, and Max von Sydow – and what a line-up that sounds.

The trailer looks strange though. One comedy moment, an opening that seems rather more like a supernatural horror, and the rest that looks like, well, I don't know. Dark and edgy certainly come through in the trailer though.

Let me get the comedy moment out of the way because it made me laugh. At about thirty-four seconds into the trailer you see the soldiers racing out of the water, and there's a great shot of the one in the centre running along and his shield wobbling away like rubber.

Okay, joke moment out of the way, the rough, edgy, dark and visceral feel to the trailer makes me think this could be a pretty hard edged look at Robin Hood, and that could make it a complete winner in my eyes, and I'm sure in the eyes of tons of you out there too.

Have a look at Ridley Scott's Robin Hood trailer and see what you think. Early days, and I'm sure there are longer ones to come, but it's off to a strong start.

Looks good, and as you said rather dark and moody, but I'm liking that. Another possible period score for Mr.Scott.
