Diesel reveals two more Fast and Furious films
Vin Diesel does talk about his films a lot, especially ones that haven't happened and are far from being in production, some might think that's egotistical, I think it's clever marketing. Well the latest one he's been talking about is Fast and the Furious, and there seems to be something more concrete than talk, try two scripts for two new sequels.
According to Diesel the are sequels in the truest sense, and may well continue the adventures directly from Fast & Furious (Filmstalker review), the fourth in the franchise, on to a fifth and sixth.
I say bring them on.
According to his very own Facebook page, which I caught through Cinematical, Vin Diesel has just read a two story saga for the next two episodes in the franchise. Here's his brief update:
”If 2009's 'Fast and Furious' was chapter one, what writer Chris Morgan just delivered is Chapter 2 and chapter 3.I have never been submitted a two story saga from a studio before... it is very exciting, and shows a commitment level that is hard not to respond to.
Excited about the sexy locations the filming of this saga would take us... this novel like story, that has twists and unexpected turns that is authentic, truthful and challenging to the characters.”
He had said back on the fifteenth of December that the first draft of a new Fast and Furious script would be coming, but I don't think he expected the two, or it didn't seem like he was expecting them anyway.
I think there's plenty mileage in the series yet, yes pun intended. Before the latest film of Fast & Furious (Filmstalker review) I wasn't sure there was much more to be had, although I secretly wished for more because I love fast cars, imports, muscle, anything. However the latest film brought it back to the strength of the first and added in some great car moments. While it's not Shakespeare, it managed to recapture the level of excitement and entertainment from the first outing.
Yes, I'd love more, and if Chris Morgan has delivered two scripts for two more films, something can't be far off happening.
It's also interesting that he leaves with the cryptic update of:
”P.s. Working through the weekend, will have updates later in the week on our others projects.”
So would those be the Riddick and Hannibal projects by any chance?
