Mirren and Tarantino?

HelenMirren.jpgThis is definitely a crazy rumour without any factual basis as yet, and you can tell that just by the tabloid source, however it's actually sparking an interesting team up in people's minds. Helen Mirren in a Quentin Tarantino film.

More than that it she would be playing a monarch, and a pretty nasty one at that. Sounds like he's capitalising on her past performances as the Queen, but I wouldn't go too close to that Tarantino as she's apt to refuse.

The rumour has it that Helen Mirren has been approached by Quentin Tarantino to play what is described as a “foul-mouthed monarch”, and that has everyone going quote crazy.

The story apparently comes from The Sun through Digital Spy, you can see why everyone's more than a little dubious already, and I caught it through Collider.

It seems that Quentin Tarantino is next heading back in history with a medieval film, and that he wants Helen Mirren to play a leading role.

”It will feature his trademarks - bloody violence and foul language. Helen has never worked with Tarantino and is interested. If the film goes into production it’s likely she will play a part.”

Mmm, if you have any salt left over from the bad winter, I'd be going for it and a shovel right now. So what if it is true? Tarantino is forever talking about projects that never happen. Still, Mirren is one hell of an actress, whatever she's playing, and you don't have to pull on previous roles for draw with her, she'll give everything you need to a film.

Mind you, above all, I'd be demanding a script from Tarantino before I said anything. First there's the issue of delivery of something tangible to be achieved, and with him that's often a tall order.
