Murray confirms Ghostbusters III spoiler
You'll remember that a little while ago Sigourney Weaver revealed in an interview what would be happening to Bill Murray's character, Dr. Peter Venkman, in the next Ghostbusters script, I say script because we're still a while off filming yet. Well now Murray himself has been talking about the film and his role and he's confirmed the same thing.
Mind you, with a script revision happening right now who knows if the writers are reworking this since it's been released on the Internet?
Back when Sigourney Weaver told us the reveal I thought it sounded like it might be a little bit of a joke, but at the same time it sounded like a cool idea, making his character a ghost would bring back the aspect of a friendly ghost that helped out the Ghostbusters, as well as bringing something new to his character.
"I said to them, 'I'll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.' So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film…"
So either they are both in on the big joke on the media and the fans, or there really is a script going around with Murray's character killed and turned into a ghost. Of course this could be getting changed as we know that there's a rewrite in the works, but this is something positive for the sequel.
At least we're not just covering old ground again. Also we could see his ghostly character turn any number of ways, becoming a nuisance, a help, or even an evil ghost, who knows? However it will tap into the comedic element that the ghost of Slimer offered in the previous films.
I'm quite keen on the idea, are you?
