Nightmare on Elm Street new trailer online
There's a new trailer online for the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, and you know what? I like it. Not only that but it captures a hell of a lot of the feelings and themes that the original did, and Freddy Krueger is looking pretty scary, if not quite a bit meaner.
His line "why are you screaming? I haven't even cut you yet." does set the hairs rising, and the way he often merges into the person's reality is rather nicely done.
I like the beginning of the trailer where we see the victims of Freddy's revenge begin to realise what is going on and connect to others, sharing their fears and their growing understanding of the dreams, for me that was such a strong part of the original film, so to see it made a big part of the remake trailer is a strong sense of positivity for me.
Plus there's the fact that Jackie Earle Haley is looking damn good as the new Freddy Krueger.
I have to admit that the excitement over remakes is increasing, Hollywood is getting better at picking them and making them, but the times when I've been truly surprised by the film over the original have been few and far between. So far it's the trailers that are exceeding expectations. I wonder if the film for Nightmare is going to better it.
