Riddick III plot details revealed

ChroniclesofRiddick.jpgAlthough Vin Diesel and David Twohy have been talking about a third Riddick for some time, it was only recently confirmed that there was actually going to be one.

Now we're starting to hear more details about the film's story, as during some heated bidding for the distribution rights in Russia, some finer points of the script were outed.

Apparently some Russian distributors were fighting over the rights to the third film, although it's still in the very early stages, Russian companies are keen to get their hands on the film as science fiction epics are the hot property for Russian audiences at the moment.

During the bidding process some details about the film were leaked out, and there are certainly comparisons to be made with Pitch Black.

Some details leaked out from The Hollywood Reporter through Coming Soon:

...the character -- the most wanted man in the galaxy -- left for dead on a barren alien planet, dealing with "trisons" (three-legged bisons) and "mud demons." He must then contend with two squads of bounty hunters, one of which ride rockets called jetcycles.

So that sounds like some of the beginning of The Chronicles of Riddick and some of the general idea of Pitch Black, and that's delivering what was promised – going back to the feel of the original but bearing in mind that the story has to cater for the fact it's coming after the epic story of Chronicles.

There's nothing there that's really making me excited, but it sounds like they are in the right direction. Also bear in mind that this could either be the first fifteen minutes of the film, or just a few select sequences throughout the entirety.

A small taster, but a decent one don't you think?
