Carla Gugino joins Dwayne Johnson in Faster...

Ben Stiller replacing Eddie Murphy in Tower Heist...

Another American Pie begins...

Mortal Kombat film in court and in doubt...

Vincent Cassel is to lead The Monk...
...the adaptation of the Matthew Lewis novel set in the eighteenth century. It already stars Deborah Francois, Sergi Lopez and Geraldine Chaplin, and is to be directed by Dominik Moll. The film tells the rise and fall of Capucin Ambrosio, a Spanish monk who, according to the story in Variety, was well respected. Cassel is an awesome actor, and one of my dream cast. He's a reason in itself to watch a film.

Jeremy Renner and Ewan McGregor in Raven?...
...While the main news is that Jeremy Renner is in talks to join Peter Berg's Battleship, the exciting news is that he is going to star in the independent film Raven, starring alongside Ewan McGregor, if his talks are successful the New York Times tells us through Latino Review. Will this be James McTeigue's Raven about the fictionalised last days of Edgar Allan Poe? Read more about that film here, and a superb one it sounds too.

Carla Gugino joins Dwayne Johnson in Faster...
...the film directed by George Tillman Jr. that sees Johnson play an ex-convict who is out to avenge the death of his brother with a list of people to see. The story comes from Variety. Sounds like Walking Tall but without the army service.

Ben Stiller replacing Eddie Murphy in Tower Heist...
...the film that was previously called Trump Heist and featured an all black cast, now it looks like Stiller is going to break that up a little. According to the story from the L.A. Times through JoBlo, the script is hitting another rewrite before Brett Ratner directs. I was hoping to see Murphy in something good, perhaps something he acts in, but we'll have to wait and see if he's going to act or keep entertaining the kiddies.

Jeffrey Wright joins Source Code...
...according to Duncan Jones himself on his Twitter account through Coming Soon, the writer and director of the film. That now makes the cast to be Jake Gyllenhaal, Vera Farmiga and Michelle Monaghan. We already know that the film is about an experimental government program that can send people back through time, inhabit someone else's body, and replay an event. They are using the technology to find out what and who caused the bombing of a commuter train. Gyllenhaal plays the lead, Monaghan the girlfriend of the character he inhabits, and Farmiga his controller.

Another American Pie begins...
...and obesity is on the rise. The L.A. Times through Coming Soon tells us that another film in the franchise is being planned, in fact it's said to be...wait for it...drum roll for the surprise announcement...a reboot. The writers of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle seem to be getting involved and it already sounds disastrous, even with that short write up.

Mortal Kombat film in court and in doubt...
...according to Variety. Warner Bros. are being sued by Threshold Entertainment for breach of contract over the third Mortal Kombat film. The suit claims that Warner have failed to cooperate with them and have been trying to cut them out of the film. It's not the first time they've sued them though, there are suits filed for the first two films and all claim that Warner are ignoring the fact that Threshold have property ownership of the film. Oh well, no great loss if it never happens eh? Let's get on with a new idea?
