Valhalla Rising first five minutes online

ValhallaRising.jpgThe first five minutes of Nicolas Winding Refn's Valhalla Rising is online, and I can honestly say, it's windy. Well the first three minutes are that's for sure.

The first five minutes start off quite and brooding and quickly turn serious, in fact vicious one might say. It's a great ending to the opening five minutes and it's definitely making a statement about what's to come.

The clip for Valhalla Rising shows two groups pitching their fighters against each other and taking the winnings and it looks like the losing group are done, until they let loose Mads Mikkelsen's half blind fighter loose on two of the other team. They don't stand a chance.

Here's the blurb that comes with the opening five minutes:

”1000 AD, for years, One Eye, a mute warrior of supernatural strength, has been held prisoner by the Norse chieftain Barde. Aided by Are, a boy slave, One Eye slays his captor and together he and Are escape, beginning a journey into the heart of darkness. On their flight, One Eye and Are board a Viking vessel, but the ship is soon engulfed by an endless fog that clears only as the crew sights an unknown land. As the new world reveals its secrets and the Vikings confront their terrible and bloody fate, One Eye discovers his true self.”

Valhalla Rising certainly looks like an interesting film from this opening clip, violent, moody, and plenty of atmosphere. Mr Refn and Mr Mikkelsen, I'm in. What about you?

What is the US release date for this movie?

Hey Greg, bad news, there's no US release date yet, nor is there a UK one! So far Denmark, Sweden, France all this month and Finland the end of next month.

I'm keen to see it too, but believe me, it will get pick up for a release.
