The Countess trailer online

JulieDelpy.jpgI thought I'd posted the first trailer for The Countess, but obviously not, so you get treated to both trailers for Julie Delpy's film The Countess, the story of Countess Elizabeth Bathory, a woman who allegedly bathed in the blood of virgins to keep her young.

It also stars Daniel Brühl and William Hurt and was written, directed and led by Julie Delpy. So far it's had some European releases and has just been released in France.

I'm not surprised that there's not a great release list for it judging by the trailers, mind you we all know that trailers can completely misrepresent a film, and I think these might, or at least I hope they do.

There's a feel to the Elizabeth films for some of the shots, but it just feels too disjointed and doesn't tell the story well.

The story goes that she was left at home by her husband who was off fighting in wars for long periods of time. She had to compete with the local noblemen trying to take her land and goods from under her and keep everything going without a husband there to look after her and protect her.

From the trailers it looks like she ends up going a little mad and that's when the fascination with blood comes into it, and before long she's responsible for killing a string of virgins.

Have a look at the two trailers for The Countess and see what you think:
