The Killing of Mary Surratt trailer online
We're waiting for a film about Mary Surratt, the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth, and the events after the assassination, from both Robert Redford and Steven Spielberg, but someone could be beating them both to it, Chris King.
It's a slightly smaller production than the films from Redford and Spielberg, but they've already released a trailer for the film which, although you can see the production values are much lower, they've got a film much quicker than the bigger productions yet to come.
The film examines the story of Mary Surratt, one of the four Southern sympathisers who were tried, convicted and executed for assisting Booth in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. She was a boardinghouse owner who allegedly guilty of harbouring John Wilkes Booth and supplying him with ammunition and assistance. The question is, was the first woman to be executed by the federal government guilty or not?
According to the blurb for , the film is going to address issues such as criminal profiling and mass hysteria about crimes which can heavily impact the rights of those accused, and perhaps result in the prosecution of the innocent.
Sounds a tall order for the film, let's have a look at the trailer and see:
