Inception plot online

Inception.jpgThe plot of Inception has been released online, and really it shouldn't be this big a deal, after all we've already seen the trailer so we should already have a clear idea of what the film is going to be about.

The plot does give us more details of the characters and what the story is likely to offer, even setting up some of the story we didn't really know, however there are no spoilers, so don't panic.

So far the details on Christopher Nolan's Inception have been light on the ground, and while the trailer looked spectacular, it revealed little of the actual story, so I think it's quite brave that the studio have gone and released a complete blurb for the film.

However let's keep this in context, there's a lot of behind the scenes work to keep the actual story events under wraps, and I just read today that there's a big surprise in the third act, but no one knows what that is. Now that's the way I like the film to remain, as I'm sure would Christopher Nolan and the studio, so they aren't going to give anything away accidentally. That's why I don't feel this plot is anything surprising or shocking. It is however intriguing.

The plot comes through Cinema Blend and JoBlo and reads like this:

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable.

Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved.

Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one.

If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

Now excuse me if I gush a little, but that's inventive, exciting, and captures your imagination without giving away that much. Of course the grey matter is off and racing, but surely Nolan and his team have been confident enough that none of this would ruin the film for anyone, after all this is the official release isn't it?
