Jonah Hex new trailer online

JonahHex.jpgThere's a new Jonah Hex trailer online today, and it's doing a great job of dispelling the Wild Wild West feeling I was getting from the previous. This is darker, harder, and although there's still the technology and gadgets way ahead of its time, it still looks rather good.

I do wish though, whatever portrayal the comic had for the story, that they had stuck purely with the weaponry of the time and not gone all gadget focused. It does feel a little confused now about what it's trying to show.

Jonah Hex does feel a little like a mix of others at the moment, but then we only have the trailers to go by, maybe that will change as the actual story unfolds, there's certainly hints of much more especially with the ghostly opening to this new trailer.

It's got the great cast though, so maybe it's going to work out, and maybe it'll become a franchise. Yet I can't help thinking way back to when the star, Josh Brolin, talked about the film:

“When I first read it, I thought, "Oh my God, it's awful!" And then I had a moment a week later, and I thought, "Why is it awful?" Maybe the thing to do is to do the most awful movie I can find...

...It's so tongue-in-cheek. It's so ridiculous. But once I started putting people in my mind and saying, "What if I put [John] Malkovich in this role? Then what does this movie become? Now let's put this producer and director on it and think about how it plays out." Then it becomes fun. Now I love that movie. If you have a great filmmaker come in, then suddenly, these gags and characters become interesting.”

Yeah, I do need some convincing myself.

The trailer comes from IGN through Coming Soon:
