Mr. Nice trailer online
I saw a trailer for Mr. Nice on the National “Movie” Awards, although it should actually be film, but never mind, that's not the point. The point is that there's a trailer online for Mr. Nice, the film about Howard Marks, the drug dealer who became one of the FBI's Most Wanted, and if you believe his story, was even involved in spying while he conducted his “business”.
What the film looks like it's going to do is pull in all the fun and comedy of international drug dealing. What an alluring trade, well, the trailer certainly makes you think so.
Rhys Ifans is playing Howard Marks in the Bernard Rose film which he also wrote the screenplay for. Now I have mixed experiences with Rose, there was the horrendous Snuff-Movie (Filmstalker review) and then the actually rather good The Kreutzer Sonata (Filmstalker review), so I'm already split.
However the trailer looks a lot of fun, Ifans is a great actor, and he's supported by Chloë Sevigny and David Thewlis, surely that's enough to turn me around to it, and after I've seen this trailer, I'm thinking I am turned around.
There is one great line that caught my eye, much like the other trailer released today:
”This is no James Bond movie. Well it certainly feels like it!”
That made me snicker. That, the car flying through the air, and the walkie-talkie scene.
