Rango teaser trailer online

GoreVerbinski.jpgBack in March of 2009 I wrote about Gore Verbinski's next film called Rango, an animated film featuring the voice talents of Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Bill Nighy, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Ned Beatty, Timothy Olyphant, Ray Winstone, Stephen Root, and Harry Dean Stanton, and is directed by Gore Verbinski.

The idea sounded bizarre, mainly because we didn't know much about it and the few whispers were making it sound very strange. Well say hello to the teaser trailer and say goodbye to any chance you might have thought that it could give you insight into the film.

Back in 2009 we heard that Rango was...

...going to be an animated tale about a household pet who thinks he's a cowboy living desert town and acting out a Western...

Speaking about Rango, Stephen Root said of it that:

"All of us played animals...Johnny Depp played a lizard, Isla Fisher played a lizard, I played a drunk rabbit and a banker owl."

Apparently back then the film was shot pretty quickly, and since they've been working on the technology to make the final film as he also revealed:

"We actually rented a soundstage on the Universal lot and shot the whole film, 8 pages a day...

...We used no makeup, but some costumes and some sketch scenery and props...We'd shoot a scene, then go over to another part of the stage and record the lines clean for the animation. We'll continue to do that for the next two years."

Now that was back in early 2009. Since then we have this teaser, and we're none the wiser.

The teaser comes through /Film who also have the story that Johnny Depp plays a chameleon with an identity crisis and he goes on an adventure to discover himself.

They also tell us that ILM, Industrial Light and Magic used cutting edge techniques that allowed them to capture the performances of the actors and to create the animated characters in a way that we apparently haven't seen before now.

I can certainly say I haven't seen a teaser like this before, now where's the film?
