Red trailer online

Red.jpgI never thought I'd have seen someone I associated with playing the Queen firing automatic weapons and kicking some serious ass, but she is. Helen Mirren stars alongside Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich as retired CIA operatives who come out of retirement when a younger, technology laden assassin tries to kill their ex-team leader, Willis.

It's based on the Warren Ellis comic book which sees the retired operative targeted and his undercover identity exposed, and his old team coming out of retirement to help him fight back. It looks like a lot of fun and a lot of action.

The complete blurb for Red is below, but everything you need to know is in the trailer.

Red is the story of Frank Moses, played by Bruce Willis, a former black-ops CIA agent who is now living a quiet life. That is, until the day a hi-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him. With his identity compromised and the life of the woman he cares for, played by Mary-Louise Parker, endangered, Frank reassembles his old team, played by Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren) in a last ditch effort to survive. Red is based on the DC Comics graphic novel of the same name by Warren Ellis.

The trailer is relying a lot on the stars, and why not? They've assembled some great names for the film and the idea of Bruce Willis fighting alongside Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich with the latter looking a slightly unhinged character, and an element of fun throughout the whole trailer.

Here is that trailer for Red which comes from Yahoo Trailers.

Best of all, Helen Mirren firing automatic weapons. How cool is she? Red looks like a lot of fun and also stars Richard Dreyfuss, Brian Cox, Karl Urban, James Remar, Julian McMahon, and Ernest Borgnine. Wow.

Robert Schwentke directs, and he's previously directed Tattoo, Flightplan, and The Time Traveller's Wife, with the screenplay adapted by Erich and Jon Hoeber, who recently wrote Whiteout (Filmstalker review). Everything looks good for an exciting film.

Shadowboxer: Helen Mirren plays a contract killer. Read the third paragraph of the plot.

Wow, that character blurb sounds interesting to say the least! Was the film any good? With Gooding Jr. I'm not sure it would have been.
