The Other Guys International trailer
If you read Filmstalker regularly you probably know that American formulaic comedy is a huge miss usually here, there's nothing that deep or clever about it, and it usually relies on jokes about bodily functions and plenty of swearing to illicit laughs.
However it's not all the same, and the trailers for The Other Guys are suggesting something better, especially this latest international trailer which has a different second half to it revealing a little more story.
One of the interesting things about this trailer is that the characters of the wild and successful cops playing by Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson are in the film a little more than just as a simple set-up, and that Mark Wahlberg might just be in his element.
Still, Will Ferrell is the funniest part of the film, and I love that line about where did he learn to drive. We also get to see a little more of the comedy with Eva Mendes, which in the trailer feels stilted and set-up, another thing I find in a lot of American comedy.
However overall I think the trailers are looking positive and there's a lot of fun to be had with the idea of the other policemen, the ones behind the ones that always get copied for the film and television roles.
Here's the new international trailer for The Other Guys, which I forgot to mention also stars Ray Stevenson, Michael Keaton, Anne Heche, an often drunk unattractive person famous for being rude and having too much money, and Steve Coogan.
