Certified Copy trailer online starring Binoche and Shimell

JulietteBinoche.jpgI'm going to be honest and say that I had no idea about Abbas Kiarostami's Certified Copy, and when that appeared with the words “Exclusive trailer” it was just vague interest that stole me across. However after watching it I'm now rather intrigued.

The film stars Juliette Binoche and William Shimell who are two strangers that pretend to be a married couple and the trailer is everything that a Hollywood trailer isn't.

The trailer for Certified Copy, which has an interesting advert before it with Ellen Page, sees the characters played by Juliette Binoche and William Shimell who meet at one of his talks and after spending a short time together Binoche's character reveals that she lied about being with her husband and the suggestion arises that they could pretend to be husband and wife fir others.

There are some great lines in the film about originality and the concept of copying and fakes, and I really liked this line that made me think about the whole concept, something that will no doubt be carried through the film and applied to their copied relationship.

“They say how much they adore their picture but that it's a copy and the originals somewhere else”

An interesting idea, and Binoche has been getting some strong praise for the film. See what you think, it's obviously not going to be everyone's cup of tea. The trailer is over at The Guardian site.
