Machete trailer online
The trailer for Robert Rodriguez's Machete is online. The trailer claims that you've never seen anything like this before, I'd argue that we have, and I'm reminded of one side of the Grindhouse feature, Planet Terror.
Not by anything else but the feel of the trailer, the oddities through it, and the fragmented style. Unfortunately it doesn't flow well, there's no sense of story and we're getting a series of fanboy, box ticking, images. You know what, that works.
Machete is the story of the former Mexican Federale, played by Danny Trejo, who is roaming the streets of Texas after a battle with the drug lord Torrez, played by Steven Seagal. A political spin doctor, played by Jeff Fahey, gets in touch with Machete to offer him a job, to assassinate a corrupt Senator, played by Robert De Niro, who is against Mexican immigrants as well as a number of other issues.
So Machete takes up the job, however it's a set-up, a double cross, it turns out that he has been used for the Senator's own political agenda. Next up, revenge against everyone, and helping him on his journey are the Padre, played by Cheech Marin and a taco vendor called Luz, played by Michelle Rodriguez. However hot on his tail is the ICE agent played by Jessica Alba.
A selection of interesting names, and Rodriguez might be challenging Alba in the hot stakes in this trailer.
It is muddled, it doesn't present a strong story for Machete, and it is parading images of unusual moments and big names, but then isn't that what a trailer for Machete should do?
