How Do You Know trailer online

ReeseWitherspoon.jpgRomantic comedies are just that these days, romantic comedies. There's not much else to them, except that they usually have a few big name stars who carry the film and all the marketing. However to be fair that's how the old Hollywood starring films went too, except they usually always had something of a twist to them.

That's how the film How Do You Know seems to go by the trailer, there's the a usual romantic plot line, a love triangle with two men after the same woman, the stars with Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd, Jack Nicholson, and Reese Witherspoon, but in the midst of it all are a couple of interesting moments.

There's the fact that Jack Nicholson is playing the father of Paul Rudd's character and he's playing it quite straight it seems, and there seems to be some real life pressure on Rudd's character, a financial investigation and bankruptcy.

Something caught my eye in the trailer, which has little to do with the film, but it seems an interesting idea. In the first half of the trailer we see the character of the doorman interacting with these people's lives, passing through moments onto the next, and I thought wouldn't that make a nice thread to pull stories together of people in an apartment block? I'm sure it's been done already.

Anyway, back to How Do You Know which seems to raise the important question (no, not where's the question mark in the title), how do you know when you love someone? Owen Wilson's character seems to know.

Really though the film looks pretty standard stuff, here's the blurb for you:

Film is a romantic comedy centered on the love triangle between professional softball player Lisa Jorgenson, a corporate executive, and a major-league pitcher.

That's about all we need. I do hope that Reese Witherspoon is doing this to get money to finance her other projects like the Peggy Lee biographical film, or that there's a lot more to it than the trailer, which you can also see over at Yahoo Movies, suggests:
