Wolverine sequel to two directors?
There's a rumour about that the new Wolverine film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2, already has two directors in contention to take the project forward.
The studio has narrowed it down to two and Hugh Jackman is supposed to be meeting with them both to have the final decision.
The next X-Men Origins: Wolverine is hopefully going to be much better than the rather silly first origins film, and all signs are good with the script being written by Christopher McQuarrie and the plot supposed to be about the Samurai setting from the Wolverine comics. So all is looking good.
It's now all down to the choice of director, and according to N.Y. Magazine it's down to two. David Slade, the director of Hard Candy (Filmstalker review), 30 Days of Nights and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and Robert Schwentke, the director of Flightplan and The Time Traveller's Wife.
Both are interesting choices and could take the film in an interesting direction, however I think Slade would be the best choice and you just have to look at 30 Days of Night to realise why.
The article from N.Y. Magazine tells us that their "insiders" tell them the studio have made these two choices and are passing them over to Hugh Jackman so that he can make his decision after meeting them both.
It also says that another "insider" they have in the production told them that "it's going to be Slade".
Well that has me confused considering that their first insider says that Jackman has to make the final choice, are they lying to him and they've already chosen? I don't think so. If the first source is telling the truth and really is inside the production then Jackman will be making the final choice full stop, whatever the alleged production insider says.
This origins film will see Wolverine from where he was left in the first film, in Japan and romancing a Japanese woman. Stupidly he's chosen someone who is already promised to someone else, and Wolverine isn't going to give up easily. Her father and brothers grab their samurai swords and start battling with Wolverine.
Pray it's better than the first.
