Gutierrez starts big name internet only film
Sebastian Gutierrez is taking on a rather demanding and potentially rather big film, not only in terms of the film itself, but of the impact on Hollywood. He's creating a film that will be distributed only across the internet.
There aren't a great amount of details on how the distribution will work, but there are on the film, and it includes a strong cast of Carla Gugino, Zachary Quinto, Danny Devito, Rosario Dawson, Amber Valletta, Josh Hartnett, Robert Forster, Gil Bellows, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Alexis Bledel.
The title of the film is called Girl Walks into a Bar, and the plot is also revealed. The quick tag line is a group of strangers are connected through one night and meetings in ten bars across the city of Los Angeles.
Doesn't sound that much, but read the bigger blurb through JoBlo and we get something much more interesting.
Zachary Quinto plays a man, just a dentist, who is having a meeting with the assassin, played by Carla Gugino, who he is hiring to kill his wife. He tries to double cross her and steal her payment, and in doing so he sets off a journey and a series of events throughout the city visiting various bars, clubs and strip joints on the way, the slightly more seedy side.
Now that sounds a little more interesting and particularly with the cast.
It'll be interesting to see how it is marketed and distributed online, if there will be special screenings for press, if there will be some new online service created for the release or if it will be distributed through the current online sites.
If it works, this could be a step forward to real online distribution. Let's see how the details unfold.
