Jackboots on Whitehall new trailer online
I loved Jackboots on Whitehall, in fact a lot of the press audience at the EIFF did, there was laughter and a lot of positive buzz afterwards, the film was nominated for an award and received a special mention, and as I said I loved it. You can read my review right here.
Now there's a new trailer online for the film, and a cracking film it is too. It tells the story of what would have happened if the Nazi's had managed to invade England, and in a Britain where Hadrian's Wall still exists and Scotland is an unknown wasteland, a small group of resistance rises from the farmlands of England, heads to save Churchill and take the remaining resistance into Scotland to launch their counter offensive.
The difference in Jackboots on Whitehall (Filmstalker review) is that it's all stop motion, and not with plasticine figures, but with action men type figures and with a strong cast including Ewan McGregor, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Timothy Spall, Tom Wilkinson, Alan Cumming, Dominic West, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Richard Griffiths, Richard O'Brien, Pam Ferris, Tobias Menzies and Stephen Merchant. Phew.
Here's a more comprehensive blurb through Quiet Earth who also have the trailer which is below:
Plus, you can see the previous trailer on Filmstalker.
Honestly I can't tell you how much fun this film is and how it needs to be noticed. We're so happy churning out the same old stuff in this country and here's a film that breaks so many of the standard clichés about British film-making, although it preserves one, quality. It's not trying to be anything it isn't, and it delivers laughs and enjoyment in bundles.
