Jovovich says Resident Evil V is happening

MillaJovovich.jpgYou have to be surprised at the growing strength of the Resident Evil from film to film, originally it wasn't viewed very well at all, although I do think that the first film was a rather good video game adaptation.

However it seems that this latest Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Afterlife, has exceeded expectations and done something incredible, according to Milla Jovovich.

”This new Resident Evil is the first one to ever open at No. 1 worldwide. It’s the biggest movie in the franchise”

Wow, number one worldwide? Seriously? Well I guess Resident Evil: Afterlife has been helped by being shown in 2D and 3D, that increases the number of showings, and what else released at the same weekend.

Mind you I have to say that I hold no water with box office weekend takings. That phrase usually carries so many caveats and can't really be compared between films, especially if it's 3D. There are so many other factors that affect the actual takings that can boost or drop the takings in different countries and cities, never mind how many cinemas that the screening can be placed in by the distributor. It's not really a comparable index film to film, neither does it have reflection on how good a film is.

Anyway, that fact aside, it is turning out to be the biggest in the franchise for many a reason, not least the fact that it's been filmed in 3D from the outset, none of that Hollywood retrofitting rubbish.

So it's no surprise that they would keep the franchise going is it? Paul W.S. Anderson seems keen on doing it too as Milla Jovovich tells us through N.Y. Magazine Vulture that he's already pulled together some ideas for the fifth film. She goes on to say:

”So we’re definitely going to make another one...We’ve been talking to a lot of fans on Twitter and stuff, so it’s probably going to be one of the first movies where we really talk to fans to see what they want, and what characters they want to see. It's going to be a more interactive process.”

Well that's interesting, so you know what to do now, get onto her on Twitter and get those ideas flowing.

Do you want to see another Resident Evil film?
