The Fighter trailer online

TheFighter.jpgNow here's the trailer of the day for me, David O'Russell's The Fighter, written by Scott Silver from the real world story of a boxer who went through a very real Rocky-esque career and starring Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo.

It certainly looks like a powerful film, and I have to admit that Wahlberg looks really good in the role and seems to be standing up well beside Christian Bale. The trailer does have power, but it also seems to have a lot of heart too.

That scene where Mark Wahlberg's character, Mickey Ward, gets his hand broken is painful for the physical, emotional and the moral aspects. It does hit home quite hard. There's also the dramatic relationship set up between the brothers which plays out really well on the screen, and just in a few minutes as well.

This is a really good trailer, setting up The Fighter well, and it's certainly got me hooked right into the story and to Wahlberg leading.

I also have to point out the filming style during the fight scenes, not just of the fights themselves, but of the characters talking in the corner, all filmed in a television style that looks as they would filmed for a real boxing match.

Here's the blurb for the film which will tell the story of Mickey Ward.

The Fighter tells the story of Boston fighter "Irish" Mickey Ward and how he was helped to the world lightweight championship by half-brother Dicky Eklund. Eklund once decked Sugar Ray Leonard and went the distance against the boxing legend before forfeiting his career to drugs and crime. He redeemed himself by training Ward through his Rocky-like run to the title.

Now, here's the trailer which you can also see over at Apple Trailers.

Great cast, a superb looking role for Wahlberg, and a powerful looking film.
