Another Tamara Drewe trailer online

GemmaArterton.jpgI started out thinking that this wouldn't be a new trailer for Stephen Frear's Tamara Drewe, I spend so much time looking at trailers that aren't that new and are hardly worth writing about, but then there's more footage to this one and this different cut gives quite the different focus for the film.

The film is based on Posy Simmonds' graphic novel which itself is inspired from the classic Thomas Hardy novel Far From the Madding Crowd, and with a great cast and a superb director this could be a bit of a surprise hit.

Here's a blurb for Tamara Drewe to give you a little more:

Tamara Drewe's present-day English countryside-stocked with pompous writers, rich weekenders, bourgeois bohemians, a horny rock star, and a great many Buff Orpington chickens and Belted Galloway cows-is a much funnier place. When Tamara Drewe sashays back to the bucolic village of her youth, life for the locals is thrown tail over teakettle. Tamara-once an ugly duckling-has been transformed into a devastating beauty (with help from plastic surgery). As infatuations, jealousies, love affairs and career ambitions collide among the inhabitants of the neighboring farmsteads, Tamara sets a contemporary comedy of manners into play using the oldest magic in the book-sex appeal.

Directed by Stephen Frears is always a good sign and then there's the cast to go with it, Gemma Arterton, Dominic Cooper, Roger Allam, Luke Evans, Bill Camp and Tamsin Greig.

You can see most of them in the trailer, and a good explanation of the mess that the character gets herself into:

Are you going to fall for her?
