I Spit On Your Grave red band trailer
I was warned that this trailer was really not safe for work and more before I watched it, and indeed there are some more scenes of impending peril and some blood and slight gore scenes, but I think it's the last scene of torture that really is the winner of the red band title for me, and rightly so.
The film is the remake of the 1978 film which carried the same title and was also called Day of the Woman. It tells of a woman who is brutally tortured and raped by a gang of men and left for dead. However she's clearly not and comes back to have her revenge in bloody and painful style.
It was hit with that terrible term of “video nasty” by the Victorians of the time, but since it's become a bit of a horror cult classic, and the plan is that this version will do the same. I'm not convinced and I think it will follow the Hostel crowd. Horror audiences will enjoy it and like it, but the film will be consigned to the horror section on the DVD shelves and there won't be anything cult or classic about it.
Still, the new trailer for I Spit On Your Grave does look like it has set-up the scenes of torture well, and like the term “video nasty” it's time for the media to dust off their thin dictionaries and sweep out their favourite add-the-word-porn-on-the-end-of-anything word, “torture-porn”. They should have just updated the old word with “DVD nasty” or “Blu-nasty”, it might have made them feel a little more intelligent and hip.
Anyway, here's the red band trailer.
