The Tempest trailer arrives
Julie Taymor's tackling of William Shakespeare's The Tempest sounds like a Kenneth Branagh adaptation - the huge cast, the epic story, and the effects laden visually rich interpretation.
The Tempest looks really good, and with the cast behind it you'll be getting even more excited - Helen Mirren, Alfred Molina, Djimon Hounsou, David Strathairn, Chris Cooper, Alan Cumming, Tom Conti, Russell Brand, Ben Whishaw, Reeve Carney, Felicity Jones, to name but most of them.
The trailer does look impressive but before I show you that, here's the official blurb for the story of The Tempest:
In her big-screen adaptation of Shakespeare's mystical thriller "The Tempest," Academy Award(R)-nominated Julie Taymor ("Across the Universe," "Frida," "Titus") brings an original dynamic to the story by changing the gender of the sorcerer Prospero into the sorceress Prospera, portrayed by Oscar(R) winner Helen Mirren ("The Queen"). Prospera's journey spirals through vengeance to forgiveness as she reigns over a magical island, cares for her young daughter, Miranda, and unleashes her powers against shipwrecked enemies in this exciting, masterly mix of romance, tragicomedy and the supernatural.
It's certainly going to be an epic tale, and looking at the cast epic performances, and looking at the trailer, epic shots and effects to boot. Here's the trailer which you can also see over at Apple Trailers in high definition.
The Tempest does look good, but will it hold a candle to the great modern day adaptations of http://www.uk.imdb.com/name/nm0000110/?
