Wrecked trailer online
I wonder if Wrecked is the film to recover the career of Adrien Brody (and because I've mentioned his name I now feel the need to say Oscar winner), for of late he's hardly been delivering Oscar winner material and with the trailer for Wrecked we're seeing the setting for a strong performance where Brody is set to be the main actor in a story sparse with other characters.
The film looks interesting too, has a clever set-up, and from the looks of the trailer has our main character questioning everything around him, including his own mind.
Having been disappointed by a number of his performances including the recent Splice (Filmstalker review), I was happy to see something better with Predators, but it's still not back to his acting strength that won him an Oscar.
The plot though is what interests, that and the trailer. The story sees a man awake to find himself trapped in a car which has obviously crashed and is sitting at the bottom of a ravine. Around him are dead bodies, a gun, and other clues to what happened. The reason he needs clues is that he has no idea what he's doing here or indeed who he is.
Here's a bigger plot to get your gums around before we look at the trailer.
A Man (Adrien Brody) awakens in a mangled car-wreck at the bottom of a steep cliff. He’s injured, his legs are trapped, and he has no memory of who he is or how he got there. His only company – a crackling radio broadcast of a violent bank robbery gone wrong and a corpse in the back seat with a wallet identifying him as one of the perpetrators. As the man ventures beyond the wreckage, he must rely on his primal instincts, using anything he can find in the surrounding wilderness to increase his chances of survival. Confronted with overwhelming obstacles, both real and imagined, the Man must discover his identity and face the consequences of what that might be
Sounds interesting, and presents something for Brody to show that acting talent again, and looking at the trailer it really does make me want to see it, there's a powerful story here that could have some twists and turns.
What do you think of it then?
