Carlos the Jackal DVD/Blu-ray trilogy trailer online
I'm still not convinced about this idea of chopping a three part film down into one feature release, especially when every single trailer I've seen just makes the film look more and more powerful and intense, and the latest trailer is no different.
The film tells the story of the infamous terrorist and murderer Ilich Ramirez Sanchez nicknamed Carlos the Jackal who carried out some terrifying attacks, from when his beginnings to his rise to building an international terrorist organisation, Olivier Assayas and Dan Franck bring his story to three films.
However the theatrical release has been much less than that, a cut down version to a mere single film with a hell of a lot of the film missing. The good news though is that the three films are being released on Blu-ray and DVD all together, and that looks like a good prospect for the fans of the film.
Let's bear in mind how well the Vincent Cassel led Mesrine films did, Mesrine: Killer Instinct (Filmstalker review) and Mesrine: Public Enemy No. 1 (Filmstalker review) did so well. Okay it's only two films and not three, but why this hasn't seen the same backing I'm really not sure.
From all accounts the film is very powerful and the performance of Édgar Ramírez as Sanchez is an amazing one, the best of his career.
Here's the new trailer for Carlos.
