Green Lantern trailer arrives
The trailer for the Green Lantern has arrived online, just a few days after those shots of Ryan Reynolds in the CG suit appeared online. I have to say that the photos weren't impressing me, and the shot of him in the suit does look like he's rather out of proportion, but the trailer is rather good.
They've managed to get a good balance of fun, wise cracks and drama in the trailer, but above all what I love about it is the scope it's promising. This isn't going to be a Green Lantern solo on Earth, this does appear to be the story of the first human joining the Universal Green Lantern Corps.
The trailer for Green Lantern is fun to watch and there's a good strong superhero, beginning of a huge adventure feel to the film from pretty much the opening scenes.
It does look like Martin Campbell has done a good job, and of course Ryan Reynolds looks the part for the character, and he's got a good supporting cast with Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins, and so on.
Here's the blurb for the film.
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.
Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity.
With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.
Now here's the trailer, which you can also see over at Apple Trailers. Is it looking good, is this going to be the Green Lantern film that fans have been waiting for and will it appeal to non-fans too?
