Source Code trailer online
I missed the fact that Duncan Jones' Source Code trailer had arrived online, but now that I've caught it I'm delighted. It's a cracking trailer which adds so much to the original blurb that we heard for the story, and doesn't Jake Gyllenhaal look like he's going to deliver a powerful performance and a half?
Duncan Jones has a lot to live up to, and I'm not sure if he's feeling it, but his first film Moon (Filmstalker review) was superb and really set the bar high. Judging from the trailer for Source Code he could be about to break that bar.
The trailer isn't all wonderful, there are a couple of shots of special effects that don't look quite spot on, but we should remember that there's still work to be done on the film and the effects could still have some work to be done on them in post production before the film's completed, so if you do feel a couple of the fire and train effects are lacking, remember, it's not finished yet.
Plus, just watch Jake Gyllenhaal, he looks better than he has in quite a few films, and this is just the trailer. Then there's the story which is really coming to life from a high concept idea and is looking damn cool and very exciting.
Here's a blurb for Source Code:
When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train.
In an assignment unlike any he's ever known, he learns he's part of a government experiment called the "Source Code," a program that enables him to cross over into another man's identity in the last 8 minutes of his life.
With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack.
Filled with mind-boggling twists and heart-pounding suspense, Source Code is a smart action-thriller directed by Duncan Jones (Moon) also starring Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye, Due Date), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Departed), and Jeffrey Wright (Quantum of Solace, Syriana).
It's a great cast too, Jeffrey Wright, Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga are all cracking actresses, and actor, and the short glimpses we get of them all look great. I'm really excited for the film.
What do you think? Will Duncan Jones out do Moon (Filmstalker review)? Here's the trailer for Source Code for you to see below, oh and you can see it over at Apple Trailers in high definition goodness.
