The Mechanic trailer online
Simon West is directing the remake of The Mechanic starring the strong cast list of Jason Statham, Ben Foster and Donald Sutherland.
The original saw Charles Bronson as a highly skilled assassin who takes on an apprentice, played by Jan-Michael Vincent, to take over his job when he's gone. However the new film seems to have a few more layers to it.
We already saw the trailer for The Mechanic, but this one looks slicker and we see much more of the other players in the story, and much more of the story itself.
Mind you, Jason Statham's voice sounds deeper than ever and he's playing a much tougher version of his Transporter character, but is Simon West going to deliver something stronger, especially with a href="http://www.uk.imdb.com/name/nm0000661/" title="Donald Sutherland on UK IMDB" target="_blank">Donald Sutherland and Ben Foster starring.
Here's a fuller blurb for The Mechanic:
Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is a 'mechanic' - an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. It's a job that requires professional perfection and total detachment, and Bishop is the best in the business. But when his mentor and close friend Harry (Donald Sutherland) is murdered, Bishop is anything but detached.
His next assignment is self-imposed - he wants those responsible dead. His mission grows complicated when Harry's son Steve (Ben Foster) approaches him with the same vengeful goal and a determination to learn Bishop's trade. Bishop has always acted alone but he can't turn his back on Harry's son.
A methodical hit man takes an impulsive student deep into his world and a deadly partnership is born. But while in pursuit of their ultimate mark, deceptions threaten to surface and those hired to fix problems become problems themselves.
Watch the trailer which came through Deadline Hollywood Daily and see which side of the fence you're falling on, does this look like a strong action film with something more to it, or is it more of the same and perhaps a bit less?
