Real Steel trailer online
The trailer for Real Steel has arrived, and it looks exciting, although stepping through it frame by frame revealed little about the film itself other than there are fighting robots and some very cool looking ones at that.
The story is set in the future where robots fight in the ring rather than fighters, and a retired fighter comes back to create his own robot and fight it in the right, versed in the old ways of really fighting. Starring Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Dakota Goyo, Kevin Durand and Anthony Mackie, Shawn Levy directs.
The blurb for Real Steel does look much less than I was hoping for when the story first broke and there were all manner of interesting possibilities, now the blurb is a father and son coming together for a last rise through the ranks for a big comeback fight that might just earn them glory.
Doesn't sound too new, just with the robots there's something extra.
A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, "Real Steel" stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.
We'll see how it turns out but the blurb and the trailer don't offer anything hugely enticing. Apart from those who love seeing robots on screen.
