The Son of No One trailer, big cast poor trailer
I'm not sure what to think of this trailer for The Son of No One, I'm inclined to think it's been released before a proper edit, but I'm just not sure. The film should be good on paper though with a cast including Al Pacino, Juliette Binoche, Ray Liotta, Channing Tatum, Katie Holmes and Tracy Morgan.
The story is about a cop who is assigned to the precinct he grew up in finds that an old secret that is shared between him and some other police is threatening to destroy his entire life and threaten his family.
Yet watching the trailer I can't help but feel so many of the beats are just off and it hasn't captured the intensity of the film. There's a scene where someone looks like they're in the police station and they fumble for the gun from someone's holster, there's the swearing bleeped out, and the disjointed story where you aren't really sure who some of the characters are.
Then again there are all the big names in The Son of No One, and perhaps that points to something. If it was Al Pacino and Ray Liotta on their own I might not be inclined to think so much of the cast, but with Juliette Binoche in there it has to be something more than we're seeing in this trailer. Doesn't it?
Son of No One follows two friends (Tatum and Morgan) forced to face the consequences of a murder they committed — and got away with — 16 years earlier. Tatum’s character Jonathan “Milk” White has gone on to a successful career with the police force and has a happy home life with his wife (Holmes) and Child. Morgan’s character Vinnie has kind of gone the other way. When Milk is assigned to the precinct where he grew up, his decade-and-a-half-old secret threatens to tear apart his life and his family.
Now that sounds a little better, but still. See what you think.
