Louis Leterrier is to direct science fiction film G...
Louis Leterrier is hot property just now, that's despite the Clash of the Titans film. He's been grabbed by Universal to direct the secretive science fiction film G. All we know from The Hollywood Reporter is that it's a disaster film which they connect to The Day After Tomorrow and Taken (Filmstalker review).

Platinum Dunes buys Zombies vs Robots...
Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes has bought the rights to Zombies vs Robots, a comic book from Ashley Wood and Chris Ryall (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) that JT Petty has created a speculative script for according to Deadline. The story follos a young girl who is the last survivor on Earth and is protected from highly intelligent zombies by a group of robots.

Gabriele Muccino may direct supernatural film Adaline...
Andy Tennant was rumoured to be directing a romantic comedy called The Age of Adaline which Katherine Heigl was set to star in with Angela Lansbury, something that didn't sound that interesting to be honest, until now. For Variety through First Showing are reporting that Gabrielle Muccino, who directed The Pursuit of Happyness and Seven Pounds (Filmstalker review), is in talks to direct the film called Adaline which follows a woman who has an accident after which she becomes immortal, and after a long life she meets a man who she falls in love with and considers mortality for. Suddenly it sounds a bit more weighty than it did before.

Paul Greengrass will direct Memphis...
Last month we heard that Paul Greengrass was considering directing Memphis, a film about the final days of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968 as he was campaigning for poor people's rights, for the rights of the black sanitary public works employees, and fighting for the Civil Rights movement as a whole while also being quite outspoken about the Vietnam War, right up to when he was assassinated in Memphis after making his famous "mountain top" speech. Deadline has the news that this is now the case and it's his next film.

Wolfgang Petersen directing adaptation of Old Man's War...
Wolfgang Petersen is set to direct an adaptation of the John Scalzi science fiction novel Old Man's War (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) by David Self who wrote Road to Perdition, the story comes from Deadline through Coming Soon. The novel which tells the story of the army of the future, the Colonial Defense Forces, who are galaxy wide human led army who use advanced nanotechnology and genetics in their soldiers and a seventy-five year old writer joins the service to gain the gift of youth. The original story gathered three sequels, and I've just bought the Kindle version to have a wee read. Another science fiction franchise perhaps?
