Mr. Popper's Penguins trailer
Oh my. I've just watched the trailer for Mr. Popper's Penguins starring Jim Carrey and Carla Gugino and while I wasn't expecting much, I still managed to get even less.
This is definitely for the real kids who can appreciate the fact that there are penguins doing silly dances and sleeping in a bed, other than that I found it particularly dire to watch.
Here's a blurb for Mr. Popper's Penguins which quotes the "beloved" book the film is based on, I sure hope that it has more than a Vanilla Ice dance number with the animals, even for the kids.
An adaptation of the beloved 1938 children's book, which won the 1939 Newbery Award. Mr. Popper is a house painter whose dreams of Arctic exploration prompt him to write letters to real explorers. One of them sends him a penguin, which he keeps in the icebox. Before he knows it, the painter has a litter of 12 beaked birds. They eat voraciously, leading him to form Popper's Performing Penguins, a stage act that goes on tour and creates mayhem at every stop.
Oh I know what the message of the film will be, it's obvious, and never mind the fact that nowadays the penguins would be taken away from him and found a proper home and he would probably be charged for animal abuse, at least the kids will have something to laugh at.
