Sleeping Beauty trailer intrigues

SleepingBeauty.jpgSleeping Beauty looks a very interesting film, coming from first time feature film writer and director Julia Leigh and starring Emily Browning it tells the story of...well, it's not entirely clear what the story will be. What we do know is that a university student needs extra money and so becomes a "sleeping beauty".

That is she joins a company that provides an experience for more mature men, women who offer complete submission for them, and that means she is totally asleep during the experience. However these experiences begin to affect her own life when somehow they touch on her consciousness.

Sleeping Beauty sounds an strange idea, but watching the trailer, reading the blurb and letting your mind settle on the idea a little more and you get an idea of where this could go. Here are the two blurbs I've seen so far to give you some more.

Death-haunted, quietly reckless, Lucy is a young university student who takes a job as a Sleeping Beauty. In the Sleeping Beauty Chamber old men seek an erotic experience that requires Lucy's absolute submission. This unsettling task starts to bleed into Lucy's daily life and she develops an increasing need to know what happens to her when she is asleep...

...A haunting erotic fairytale about Lucy, a young University student drawn into a mysterious hidden world of beauty and desire

So it seems as though she is totally asleep during these experiences, or in some form of induced paralysis, I would suspect asleep, and like dreams when she's awake there are remenants that creep into her own life.

Having seen Emily Browning in Sucker Punch (Filmstalker review) I'm keen to see her performance here, which to a degree has a connection with her character from that film.

The trailer looks stylish and with the intriguing story line this has to be a film to watch out for, definitely something different.

What do you think? Looks rather creepy and unsettling too.
